The dry season (April to October) is the most recommended, because it rains little and the trekking paths are in better condition. However, it is also when there are more tourists. If you want clearer views, the dry season is ideal; if you prefer fewer crowds and lower prices, the rainy season may suit you better.
Yes. Cusco is more than 3,300 meters above sea level, so it is advisable to arrive one or two days early so your body can adapt to the altitude before doing demanding activities. It also helps to stay well hydrated and avoid very heavy meals during the first few days to reduce the risk of altitude sickness.
It is best to book in advance, especially for Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu or combined packages, which have limited places. We recommend booking 4 to 5 months before your trip to guarantee a more comfortable experience and avoid surprises. Planning ahead also lets you choose the schedules and services that best suit your preferences.
Most businesses and activities included in our tours accept cards, but in small towns and some markets it is advisable to carry cash in soles (the local currency). Having some cash also lets you buy souvenirs, try local food and enjoy small experiences where electronic payment is not always accepted.
